Pastoral Care Committee

Many people are involved in helping and caring for those in need, especially the older ones among us. This committee meets monthly to coordinate the work of the individuals and teams who benefit from the close involvement and guidance by our Ministers. Check the Calendar for details on time and dates.

Personal Contact

  • Home visits are arranged to ensure friendly contact during periods of convalescence after hospitalization.
  • Wentworth Lodge, a home for seniors, benefits from the care and attention we provide to residents of this facility. Members of Knox conduct worship and Communion Services four times annually.
  • Communion Services are organized for residents of the Blackadar Nursing Home and Retirement Residence four times per year.
  • Frequent telephone contact with the elderly and shut-ins is maintained to avoid feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Flowers

  • Easter Lilies are donated in memory of loved ones or for other noteworthy purposes and decorate our Sanctuary at Easter. Following the Easter Service volunteers distribute the Easter lilies to the sick and shut-ins.
  • Flowers used in the decoration of the Sanctuary are arranged and cared for in accordance with the wishes of their donors. Following the worship service donated flowers are taken care of in accordance with the wishes of the donors. Most often they are taken to the sick and shut-ins to enjoy.

Audio

  • Teams are responsible for recording the worship services on audiotape and produce multiple copies for distribution to those unable to attend services.
  • Teams deliver audiotapes weekly, maintaining welcome contact with those unable to attend the worship services regularly.

Cards

  • Special Cards are sent for unique celebrations, or at a time of bereavement or serious illness.
  • Birthday cards are sent to those ninety years and older.

Special Occasions

  • Occasional Transport is provided to those in need of transportation to Church, hospital, or to doctor's appointments.
  • Receptions following funeral services are organized for members of Knox with the help of the volunteer Bereavement Team.
